the Battle of a Dinner

I really don't know how mom did it. All these years of Spring Festival dinner feasts coming out of our kictchen, cooking up a storm while all of us parasites stuffing our faces over course after course of dishes. Today's dinner has been in the plans for months and today it finally happened. In fact after the dinner party is over and after at least a bottle of wine down my throat, at 1 AM, I am exhausted to elaborate any further. I am completedly exhausted... happy though that I did not have any incident like two weeks ago, such as chopping off the tip of my finger or having anyone food poisoned instantly after the intake of MY food. Well, right now I am going to bed. I think my grandma in heaven would finally be relieved that I CAN coook, afterall, a good ten course meal... since she always harped on mom for not teaching me to cook or sew or do anything that a proper Chinese girl should do.

I just called mom. Thousands of miles away over the phone line, I sensed that she was relieved too that finally her daughter can stand on her own. Mom can finally answer to grandma just like she did years ago "Well, she will learn to do all these when she needs to. " What a day!

Guo Jiang, Guo Jiang, Yinan. :) I can't say they are that great. I am just glad I made it. But to tell you the truth, I am starting to pay more attention to cooking. Maybe one day I will become a decent chef.
